How to Source Machinery, Electronics, and Industrial Products from Armenia

How to Source Machinery, Electronics, and Industrial Products from Armenia

By AdministratorPublished Updated

Industrial sourcing is different from buying a finished consumer item. The buyer must evaluate technical fit, interfaces, standards, manufacturing control, installation, software, spare parts, and long-term service. Armenian companies may offer machinery, electrical products, fabricated components, electronic devices, and technology solutions, but each opportunity needs a disciplined technical and commercial review.

Begin with a complete requirement specification

Describe the operating purpose, environment, capacity, dimensions, materials, electrical supply, interfaces, accuracy, duty cycle, safety needs, software or protocol requirements, documentation language, destination, and target schedule. Attach drawings and reference standards. Identify which points are mandatory and which can be engineered jointly.

Assess engineering and manufacturing capability

Review similar projects, design resources, equipment, critical suppliers, calibration, traceability, quality procedures, and capacity. Ask which components are standard, custom, imported, or subcontracted. For electronics and connected devices, discuss firmware ownership, cybersecurity responsibilities, updates, data handling, and component-lifecycle risk.

Verify compliance and testing

Agree which standards and market requirements apply and who is responsible for conformity assessment. Request relevant test reports and certificates, but check their scope, model, issuer, and current validity. Define factory acceptance tests, performance criteria, inspection methods, and the evidence that must accompany shipment.

Calculate the total operational cost

Compare more than purchase price. Include tooling, engineering, packaging, freight, duties, installation, training, energy, consumables, maintenance, spare parts, downtime, licenses, and end-of-life needs. Clarify payment milestones, warranty start, acceptance conditions, and the cost of changes after design approval.

Plan commissioning and long-term support

Decide who installs, configures, tests, and trains the operator. Require manuals, drawings, bills of materials where agreed, recommended spares, maintenance schedules, and support contacts. Begin with a prototype or pilot when the technical or operational risk is high, then document lessons before scaling.
